Time tracking

Hours that arrive complete.

Timers and manual entries work the way they do in any tracker. What differs is everything attached to the hour: the project and client it belongs to, whether it is billable, who approved it, and whether the description will survive a client reading it.

Start it, or write it down later

A timer runs from the top bar wherever you are in the app, ticking by the second, and stops from the same place. Step away and take a break without losing the entry. When the timer was never started, log the time after the fact against the same fields, and a description typed while the timer ran carries into the entry as a draft.

  • The running timer stays visible and stoppable from any page
  • Breaks pause the clock rather than ending the entry
  • A draft typed in one place survives the handoff into the entry

The week adds up as you go

Every entry lands on the same week view, billable and non-billable side by side, so Friday is a review rather than a reconstruction. The totals are the ones your reports and your client views read from, not a second tally kept somewhere else.

  • Billable and non-billable split as the week fills
  • Today keeps moving while the rest of the week is settled
  • The same totals feed reports, portals and invoices

Approvals before the number leaves the building

Entries carry an approval state of pending, approved or rejected, with the approver and a note recorded against them. Rejecting an entry keeps it. The reason stays attached, and the correction is visible afterwards.

  • Approve or reject with a note that stays attached
  • Rejected entries keep their history rather than disappearing
  • Period close locks a range once the month is agreed

The record gets checked before a client checks it

Rules run over entries and flag the ones that will not hold up. Overlapping entries, missing descriptions, backdated and future-dated work, sessions too long to be plausible, days totalling more than a day, and work logged outside working hours. Each flag names the reason, so the fix is obvious.

  • Overlap, missing description, backdated and future-dated checks
  • Duration and daily-total limits that catch a mistyped timer
  • After-hours and weekend flags for review, not for policing

AI that improves the record

Ask for a description to be rewritten against your workspace style guide, and get something a client can read without translation. The hours are never invented or adjusted. The assistant works on how the work is described, which is where timesheets usually fail.

  • Rewrite a vague description into a specific one
  • Workspace style guides define what a good entry looks like
  • Every rewrite is preserved in the audit history

Bring the history you already have

A Clockify connection keeps importing as you go. For everything else there is CSV, and the importer recognises Toggl Track, Harvest and Clockify export headers, so those columns map themselves. Direct Toggl Track and Harvest connections are on the roadmap and not shipped.
